The island of Tenerife is a popular spot for sun-seeking holidaymakers, and it’s not hard to see why. Thanks to its location just off the west coast of Africa, Tenerife – part of the Canary Islands – basks in sunshine virtually all year round. The summers are hot and dry, and even the winter months offer plenty of warm sunny days that are conducive to t-shirts and shorts.

The southern shores of Tenerife are the destination of choice for most summer holidaymakers, as this is where the hottest resorts line up along the best beaches, with sun, sea and sand by the bucket-load.

One resort in particular that’s proving to be a hit with sun-seekers is Costa Adeje. It’s a relatively new resort based next to the effervescent town of Playa de las Americas, but unlike its noisy neighbor, holidays in Costa Adeje are pretty laid-back. The beautiful golden sands of Playa del Duque bring beach-lovers flocking to Costa Adeje, and for those who prefer to tuck themselves away for a spot of quiet snoozing there are plenty of quiet beaches and little coves further along the coastline.

It’s a fairly upmarket resort and much of the accommodation errs on the side of four and five-star luxury. You’ll find everything on Costa Adeje hotels online at Tenerife.com – why not take a peek and check out some of the five-star stunners on offer? In addition there are numerous family hotels, and plenty of lovely villas and apartments for those who prefer to go their own way.

By day, Costa Adeje has plenty to entertain all ages – from watersports on the beach and a good selection of shops and cafes, to the fantastic Siam Park, a vast water park that’s one of the biggest in Europe. Costa Adeje is also a great base from which to get out and explore the rest of Tenerife either by hire car or as part of an organised day trip.

As the sun goes down, Costa Adeje offers a smattering of bars and pubs, with some fantastic restaurants offering local and international cuisine. If you really want to party the night away, next door Playa de las Americas is only a few kilometres away and an easy hop by taxi.

If Costa Adeje takes your fancy, you can find hotels at http://en.tenerife.com/ and search online to find the best combination of accommodation and price to suit your taste and budget.
