Crying Tiger: A Bite of Bangkok’s Streets

Craving Thai Asian street eats in Makati? Crying Tiger captures Bangkok’s buzz with a punchy menu of no-frills, flavor-packed Thai dishes. I originally planned to order moo ping, but a downed grill led me to their kai jeow, a Thai-style crispy omelet over hot rice.

It came crispy, slightly oily, and delightfully overbeaten, true to what you’d find on Bangkok’s bustling food alleys. Topped with fresh parsley, the dish brought comfort, texture, and simplicity. Crying Tiger stays true to the soul of street food. It’s gritty, honest, and full of flavor, exactly what you want from Asian street eats in Poblacion.

Tetsuo: Japanese Fried Chicken with an Edge

Thinking about where to eat in Poblacion for Japanese comfort food? Tetsuo delivers karaage with edge, style, and serious crunch. Located along Kalayaan Avenue, Tetsuo’s concrete-and-neon space feels raw, urban, and unapologetically cool, just like its food.

Karaage + Soba set.

I ordered the Karaage + Soba set, then added Beef Fried Rice out of curiosity and unexpected hunger. Portions impressed me, definitely generous. The karaage was golden, juicy, and dusted with citrus-pepper powder that made each bite pop. Soba noodles were flavorful, though I wish the sauce came on the side. Overall, this is elevated Asian street eats done right.

Khao Khai: Isaan Flavors with a Twist

Khao Khai blends playful interiors with Isaan-style Thai dishes, giving you flavorful Asian street eats in a fun, vibrant setting. It’s an ideal pick when exploring where to eat in Poblacion with a group or on a casual date night.

Fried Chicken Krapao, Somtum, and Thai Milk Tea.

I tried the Somtum, Fried Chicken Krapao, and Thai Milk Tea. The papaya salad had a nice crunch but needed more punch. The Krapao was hearty and filling, though sweeter than expected and featured green beans, not the traditional basil-heavy spice hit. Redemption came with the Thai Milk Tea, balanced, creamy, and exactly what the meal needed to end strong.

Ha Noi Pho: A Vietnamese Time Capsule

Looking for authentic Vietnamese Asian street eats? Ha Noi Pho delivers both flavor and nostalgia through setting, dishes, and attention to detail. I arrived before opening and joined other early diners, always a good sign when finding where to eat in Poblacion.

Luscious bun cha of Ha Noi Pho.

The bun cha, served on a bilao, came with smoky grilled pork and a tangy, well-seasoned dipping sauce. Each bite pulled me back to my 2017 Hanoi trip, a rare memory-meets-meal experience that left me smiling. The egg coffee was lighter than expected, but still satisfying. Bonus: the place is run by Vietnamese owners, which shows.

88WOK: Quick Comfort with a Local Kick

Need fast, filling Asian street eats that feel familiar? 88WOK delivers on both speed and flavor with no-nonsense comfort food. I arrived early and was the first customer. Their Salt and Pepper Pork came out fatty, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.

The rice had strong spices that almost overpowered the dish, but it still worked as a heavy, savory breakfast. Their Pork Siomai was chunky, meaty, and paired with dipping sauces that brought it to life. From Szechuan Beef to Spicy Squid, the full menu covers more than I could try. It’s an ideal pick for cheap eats.

Poblacion’s Asian street eats scene is more about authenticity than reinvention. These restaurants celebrate street food’s spirit, flavor-forward dishes, casual vibes, and a touch of nostalgia in every bite.
