Badjao Seafront Restaurant

PALAWAN | Badjao Seafront Restaurant

Our Puerto Princesa trip was carefully planned, and restaurants were scheduled weeks before departure. For our second night, we visited Badjao Seafront Restaurant. It was one of the most recommended places to dine in the city, both by locals and travelers.

Getting To Badjao Seafood Restaurant

The restaurant is located in Barangay Sikat, along Abueg Road. Kuya Arthur, a friendly tricycle driver, offered to drive us there. He had given us his calling card earlier, so it was easy to contact him. We only hired him for a one-way trip, but he insisted on waiting until we finished dining. For the round trip, we paid him ₱200.

We arrived at around 7:00 p.m., just as the sky turned dark. The sun was almost gone, and the horizon displayed its final colors. From the entrance, a wooden walkway welcomed us. The path went through mangrove trees, creating a unique tropical vibe. Friends had told us that Badjao Seafront Restaurant was a floating restaurant. After checking closely, I noticed the structure had firm supports on the corners. It was not floating, but the seaside setting was beautiful.

Scenic Views and Ambiance

From the dining area, we were treated to a gorgeous view of the sunset. The calm waters and mangroves made the setting picturesque. It created a peaceful atmosphere that made the meal more special. The wooden interiors gave the restaurant a rustic touch. The sound of waves in the background added to the charm.

While eating, we noticed music playing softly. At first, we assumed it was a recorded track. Later, we discovered it was live music performed on a keyboard. The instrumental performance made the evening more memorable.

Food and Drinks

Once seated, we eagerly checked the menu and decided on a seafood platter. It included a crab dish, sizzling squid, and grilled fish. To balance the seafood, we ordered ensaladang talong, garlic rice, fresh fruits, and their soup of the day, which was molo.

The seafood was fresh, though the flavors felt less remarkable compared to our meal at Kinabuchs Grill and Bar. Perhaps my expectations were higher since many friends had praised the place. Still, the food was filling and enjoyable.

We also tried three of their cocktails, recommended by Ate Mei. These were the Pink Margarita, Seafront Beauty, and Badjao Sunset. Each drink had its own charm, though they left us a bit lightheaded on our way back to town. The cocktails were refreshing and paired well with the seaside atmosphere.

Expenses

Here is the breakdown of what we spent:

  • Seafood Platter – ₱980.00
  • Extra Garlic Rice Platter – ₱95.00
  • Strong Ice – ₱60.00
  • Pink Margarita – ₱125.00
  • Seafront Beauty – ₱100.00
  • Badjao Sunset – ₱100.00
  • Fare – ₱200.00

Total: ₱1,660.00

For the group, the price was reasonable considering the location and atmosphere. The seafood platter alone was large enough to share. The cocktails were fairly priced for a restaurant that caters to both locals and tourists.
