PALAWAN | Ver De Palawan: Healthy Eats in Puerto Princesa City

Since I started to follow a low carb diet, I became more careful about what I eat, even while traveling. For me, food is no longer just fuel. It is part of a lifestyle that helps me manage my health. While planning my trip to Puerto Princesa City, I looked for a restaurant that could offer nourishing yet satisfying meals. My search led me to Ver De Palawan, found along Manalo Street in Puerto Princesa City.

Green Ambience and Plant-Filled Charm

True to its name, the exterior of Ver De Palawan shines with greenery. Plants cover the porch and create a refreshing welcome. As a plant collector, I immediately noticed rare species like Philodendron Florida Beauty, Monstera deliciosa, variegated Syngoniums, hoyas, and pothos. The place felt like home even before I opened the menu. The calming setting already shaped my dining experience.

Satisfying Plant-Based Choices

The staff greeted me with warm smiles and guided me to my table. They mentioned their bowl of the day, chicken cajun. I checked the menu and discovered a wide range of choices. Ver De Palawan serves vegan versions of comfort food such as nachos, pizza, panini, and pesto grilled cheese. The menu also includes hearty salads, burgers, pastas, and all-day breakfast plates. Their drinks impressed me with smoothies, smoothie bowls, and “superfood sips” featuring matcha, wheatgrass, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, and tahini. Coffee and tea are also available.

For my meal, I chose the Happy Bowl with falafel balls, turmeric adlai, pickled beets, olives, Israeli salad, and tahini sauce. I tried adlai for the first time, and its texture reminded me of corn. It was chewy and comforting. The falafel tasted well-cooked and matched perfectly with the nutty tahini sauce. The Israeli salad added crunch, and the olives gave a briny kick. Pickled beets provided acidity, although the vinegar was a little strong for my taste. I would have enjoyed a lighter touch. Still, the Happy Bowl was flavorful, balanced, and very filling.

I paired my meal with the Teatox Smoothie, a mix of detox tea, banana, mango, ginger, and cayenne. The smoothie was light, refreshing, and energizing. It complemented the Happy Bowl without overshadowing its flavors.

Why Ver De Palawan Stands Out

Inside, the restaurant embraced a lush and relaxing theme. Plants decorated the space and created a soothing, natural vibe. Wooden furniture and soft lighting enhanced the cozy atmosphere. The environment felt inviting and made me want to stay longer. Ver De Palawan is perfect for enjoying a meal, catching up with friends, or simply spending quiet time.

Prices reflected both quality and creativity. Healthy bowls like the Tofu Poke Bowl start at ₱290. Burgers such as the Shroom Melt Burger cost up to ₱590. Drinks range from ₱140 for a Café Americano to ₱220 for smoothies. Smoothie bowls fall between ₱300 and ₱340. Considering the flavors and freshness, I found the pricing reasonable for locals and tourists alike.
