Tired from the 6-hour dizzy bus ride from Sagada, Mountain Province, I went directly from Dangwa Terminal to Microtel Inn and Suites Baguio. The guard on duty opened the taxi door as he greeted and directed me inside the hotel. I didn’t spot the information desk easily since it is located adjacent to the main entrance. A staff welcomed me and asked for any assistance. Standard check in time for guests is 2PM but after the verification of the reservation, the staff already handed me the electronic data entry card and instructed me to check the room right away.

The room I got is located on the fourth floor of the building and at the right wing. The reservation given to me was double and I was overwhelmed with the very spacious room. Welcomed me were 2 queen-sized beds with clean sheets having 3 pillows each. The blankets were so thick, 3 sheets heaped, to complement the cold weather of Baguio. The soft lighting of the room adds up to the homey feeling, simple yet pleasing to the eyes.

Another impression is the toilet and shower which is so spacious and clean. Fresh and clean towels of different kinds; body, face, hand, and foot are available together with the toiletries and a hairdryer for hair conscious folks. An automatic water heater was also installed for hot showers.

A couch, which can be used as an extra bed, is also located near the window. A beautiful sunrise will wake you up if you’re in the odd-numbered rooms while a view of the sunset on the other side. All rooms of the Microtel Inn and Suites Baguio have radio clock and a multifunctional telephone system with IDD/NDD. The huge cabinet near the window can accommodate all your things as the LCD television having 46 channels is on top. A desk with a large mirror can also be used by people who can’t leave their work behind. You can also adjust the room temperature with their individually-controlled air-conditioning units. For security and safety of guests, rooms can be accessed by the electronic key card and each has a fully automated fire system.

I slept for about 10-hours on the bed with a chiropractor-approved mattress which added a sensible comfort during your rest. A function room is also available with a capacity of 60 people which is free to use if you availed at least 8 rooms of any type. Members of the staff of the hotel are very friendly and even greet you every time you meet them in the hallway or in the lobby. Another good thing here is that children under 12 years old (maximum of 2) sharing room with adults and utilizing the existing bed/s are free of charge.

The complimentary buffet breakfast included in the accommodation is being served at the Microtel Inn and Suites Baguio’s own Te Quiero Tapas Bar and Restaurant. I went there around 7 AM and the place was not yet crowded. Food served were mostly Filipino cuisine: steamed and fried rice, pancit canton, fried boneless bangus, longganisa and pork steak. Chocolate and corn cereals were also available with bread and Baguio’s famous spreads, Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam. For the salads, a bowl of veggies, beans with olives and macaroni were the options to choose from.
