First weekend of October and I intentionally cancelled my trip to Romblon. To recover from the hard feeling of not utilizing my plane ticket, I availed a room in Bayfront Hotel Cebu, located a few blocks from SM Cebu. That weekend was also the annual UAAP Cheerdance competition that made the hotel stay worthwhile.

For the second time, I had the booking thru HotelQuickly app and thanks to some referral codes, I was able to secure an overnight stay in the hotel for only PHP780, including tax. The actual rate for that night is PHP2450, but since the smartphone app has this concept of immediate booking, you can save up to 70% off on regular rates. Download it on your phone and redeem my code AABEL1 to receive PHP600 off on your first booking.

Usage of curve lines at the hotel’s lobby is very visible; from the front desk, ceiling, and to furniture. The front desk wasn’t too busy during my arrival so it was a breeze that after about 10 minutes, I was already enjoying my superior room on the 12th floor. It’s one of the four room types available: standard, superior, suite, and barkada.

Superior rooms have two queen beds, a mini bar, writing desk, coffee and tea facilities, flat screen TV, in-room safe, and hot and cold shower. Don’t disturb and make up room switches are installed near the door for you to just dabble it when you need one. A multimedia converter panel is also available with USB, phone, and LAN inputs.

Each room has its designated Wi-Fi router with your room number as connection, and room number and your last name as credentials. With this, expect around 30+ Mbps speed.

The earth-hued colors of the interior make the room dim yet emphasize a comfortable mood. A panoramic painting of a landscape just above the bed headboards is just simply amazing. Unfortunately, there’s only one pillow per bed. I actually asked for a king size bed yet they offered me the idea of merging the beds, I declined and opted for the regular set up.

Usual toiletries like shampoo/conditioner, body wash, soap, and dental kits are present. For towels, it was just sad to find out that there were no face and hand towels while it’s nice to have both hand held and overhead spouts for the shower. I believe blowers are available upon request.

The rate includes buffet breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant Café Breeze located on the ground floor on the left side of the lobby. On that day, they have varieties of viands like sausages, fish fillet, ham, omelet, and stir-fried noodles. The salad and pastry section was remarkable having several options of bread, muffin, spreads, and a simple cured meat and cheese platter.

The hotel has no swimming pool but they have a sweat gym on the 6th floor to allow guests to continue their usual workout routines. For events, they have Bantayan Ballrooms and Badian Meeting Rooms. A 7-Eleven outlet is also available on the ground floor for some quick grocery fix.

The hotel’s regular rates can be considered economical if you’re in a group plus its location is good for those travelers who plan to visit Bohol as the ferry terminal is just 5-10 minutes away. The short stay in Bayfront Hotel Cebu on that weekend was a temporary relief on my desire to have weekend trips outside my normal programming.
