DIY Travel Guide: Baler Itinerary

Baler is a quaint coastal town on the eastern side of the Philippines. Its location is a bit off from Manila, requiring around 5 to 7 hours of travel, whether by private car or commute, to reach its surf-ready waves. But beyond surfing, Baler also shines as a destination rich in history and natural attractions, making it a perfect addition to any well-planned Baler Itinerary.

Several accommodations dot the stretch of Sabang Beach but expect that the rates are a bit higher because they’re located in the main hub of the town. Backpacker lodges, mid-range to high-end resorts are available. There are also inns and lodges in the town center that are 3-5 minutes away from Sabang Beach.

1. Regular Aircon Bus to Baler c/o Genesis is Php450 per way and Php750 for the Deluxe.
2. For the accommodation, we didn’t stay in Sabang Beach but in a lodge near the market 5 minutes away from Sabang.
3. Surfing rates is actually Php350 but the staff gave us a Php50 off.
4. Entrance Fee in Dicasalarin Cove is Php300 for walk-ins. Some of the group stayed in Costa Pacifica that’s why we were able to secure a vehicle pass and paid Php100.
5. If you plan to rent a van, you still need to get a local tour guide because they will not allow you to go to Ditumabo Falls.
6. Since our lodge allows cooking, we managed to cook our breakfast to save some.
