DIY Itinerary and Travel Guide: Weekend in Baler, Aurora

Baler is a quaint and coastal town in the eastern side of the Philippines. Its location is a bit off from Manila and you need to travel for 5 or 7 hours, private or commute, just to experience the surf-able waves. But aside from surfing, Baler also proves itself as a tourist destination with the presence of historical sites and some natural attractions within its vicinity.

Quezon Park.

Our plan was to spend 3 days and 2 nights but we managed to squeeze it into a weekend getaway. Here’s a simple guide; itinerary and expenses, where to stay and eat, and things to see and do during a weekend visit to Baler. You can click on the photos to open the separate posts.

Just like any other destination in the country, Baler has numerous restaurants to choose from that offer, aside from good meals, unique dining experience. During our visit, we were able to try the following restaurants.

Several accommodations dot the stretch of Sabang Beach but expect that the rates are a bit higher because they’re located in the main hub of the town. Backpacker lodges, mid-range to high-end resorts are available. There are also inns and lodges in the town center that are 3-5 minutes away from Sabang Beach.

Travel Notes:
1. Regular Aircon Bus to Baler c/o Genesis is Php450 per way and Php750 for the Deluxe.
2. For the accommodation, we didn’t stay in Sabang Beach but in a lodge near the market 5 minutes away from Sabang.
3. Surfing rates is actually Php350 but the staff gave us a Php50 off.
4. Entrance Fee in Dicasalarin Cove is Php300 for walk-ins. Some of the group stayed in Costa Pacifica that’s why we were able to secure a vehicle pass and paid Php100.
5. If you plan to rent a van, you still need to get a local tour guide because they will not allow you to go to Ditumabo Falls.
6. Since our lodge allows cooking, we managed to cook our breakfast to save some.
