But lately, the island’s food scene is slowly taking the limelight to make your stay in the island even better and more enjoyable. For that, here’s a Boracay Food Guide for restaurants scattered on the island: from White Beach to the far sides of Diniwid and Bulabog Beaches that can serve as your guide in discovering Boracay’s food scene, satisfy your cravings, and answering the question “Where to Eat in Boracay?”

WHERE TO EAT IN BORACAY: Station 3

THE SUNNY SIDE CAFE

Yellow chairs, fixtures, and service crew uniforms create the first impression on how cozy The Sunny Side Cafe in Boracay Sands Hotel. They offer all-day breakfast as well as specialty coffee. Massive pancakes dominate the menu that also includes some wonuts (waffle donut), bread, and dessert pies. Plating is also commendable and seemed that you’re dining in a fancy restaurant.

REAL COFFEE AND TEA CAFÉ

If the breeze from the sea is cold on an early morning walk by the beach, drop by Real Coffee and Tea Café for hot beverages like coffees, tea, sandwiches, pastries, and breakfast meals. The upper floor of the restaurant is very native by utilizing bamboo as walls, ceilings, and tables and chairs. It also allows you to watch Boracay tourists walking along the stretch of White Beach.

Must Tries: Calamansi Muffin (Php60), Carrot Muffin, Banana Muffin, Real Coffee (Php120), Mango and Calamansi Juice (Php140), Marty’s Chicken Omelette (Php330), Super Duper Sandwich (Php340).

I LOVE BACKYARD BBQ

Can’t you survive a day without meat entering your system? How about trying out I Love Backyard BBQ with the many meat specials they offer. Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and sausages, everything is on their menu. Groups of tourists flock the place during lunch time so patience is a virtue in waiting for a table or be early for you not to queue.

Must Tries: Dad’s Famous Bulalo Steak (Php350), Pepper Steak (Php300), The Best Pork Belly (Php230), The Best Chicken BBQ (Php230), The BBQ Fish Belly (240), Surf and Turf (Php400), Sizzling Baby Back Ribs (Php350).

SPICEBIRD PIRI-PIRI GRILL

Spicebird is at the heart of D’ Mall. The restaurant is small yet provides a very cozy ambience. They offer amazingly sauces for your meals like: Piri-piri Sauce (moderate heat that’s great on everything), Hotbird Sauce (burns like seeing your ex with someone else), Garlic and Lime (when you like how food tastes more than you like friends), and Salsa Verde (fresh and herby like a delicious garden of your dreams).

Must Tries: Piri-Piri Chicken Board Quarter (Php295), Piri-Piri Pork Belly Board (Php320), Piri-Piri Shrimp Board (Php320), Piri-Piri Pulled Pork Sandwich (Php295).

LEMONI CAFÉ BORACAY

This chic café is known for their appetizing desserts. If you’re a fan of cheesecakes, this is the right place for you. The Lemon Café Cheesecake, their signature cheesecake, is really sinful, the first bite brought chills while your buds enjoying the sweet to tangy taste of the infused lemon.

Must Tries: Lemon Café Cheesecake (Php140), Lemon Bar (Php100), Classic Lemon Tart (Php150), Macaroons (Php40).

BITE CLUB GRILLED BURGERS

Bite Club has this make-your-own-burger concept with three simple steps: choose your burger, add a topping, and pick a side. For the patty, they have third, half pounders, and the biggest burger in the island, the one-pounder burger. They have a dozen of toppings to choose from which is free for the first one and Php25 per extra. All burgers also come with lettuce, tomato, and their special Bite Club dressing.

Must Tries: Triple X (Php420), Burgerella (Php185), Bacon and Mozzarella Special (Php205), Tender Grilled Chicken Sandwich (Php175), Crispy Club Fries (Php75).

SMOKE RESTO

It has two locations in D’ Mall and both offer quite reasonably priced food and most are Filipino food. Tourists usually flock the place near D Mall’s wet market section because it offers an outdoor dining. I tried their other site near Andok’s. They have various rice meals from chicken, pork, beef, and seafood that range from Php 140 to 210.

Must Tries: Sizzling Bulalo (Php350), Crispy Bulalo (Php350), Crispy Pata (Php350), Kao Pad (Php160), Spicy Garlic Pork (Php140), Tofu Salpicao (Php120).

CRAZY CREPES

Think of a filling for your crêpe, they have it. Crazy Crepes’ kiosk along Station 2 in front of Pizza Hut; it offers several varieties of crêpe from ice cream, custard cream, Nutella, savory, fresh cream, and even parfaits. Something to munch on while walking along White Beach.

Must Tries: Blueberry (Php85), Triple Choco (Php110), Tuna Wasabe (Php95), Strawberry Nutella (Php110), Triple Berry Parfait (Php135).

PAUPATRI RESTAURANT

A narrow alley from Deparis Resort will lead you to a road and bring you to a restaurant tucked in a lush surrounding. The restaurant requires guests to remove footwear before walking along the wooden boardwalks of the restaurant. It offers a serene and peaceful ambiance away from the thriving crowd of Boracay. Food is expensive but actually can fill up 4 persons. Quality of the food being served is also commendable. The price is high because they consider the weight of the main ingredients like fish, squid, and shells.

T COFFEE HOUSE

This coffee-house along the main road, just across Azalea, also offers all-day breakfast that includes continental, American, and Filipino at Php260. The meal includes fruit, juice or coffee, eggs, and varietals of bread, toast, jam, ham, bacon, and choice of tocino, corned beef, or homemade sardines, depending on breakfast type to avail. For beverages, they have latte and tea, shake, frappucino, juice, and beer, in addition to the iced and hot coffee available.

Must Tries: Filipino Breakfast with homemade sardines (Php260), Cafe Americano (Php100).

COCO MAMA

Spicebird Piri Piri and The Sunny Side Cafe are sister restaurants of the newest ice cream place in D Mall Palengke. The ice cream shop has its signature ice cream flavors served in coconut shells. What makes their ice cream different from other ice creams in the island is that its vegan-friendly, non-dairy, lactose-free, gluten-free and has a low glycemic index. With the way they served the dessert, you can bring it anywhere on the island but be sure to dispose the coconut shell properly. They also have a stall in D Talipapa.

Must Tries: Coconut and Coconut Pandan.

D TALIPAPA

If you love ‘dampa’ style dining in Manila, you can also have it in Boracay at D’ Talipapa market. Fresh and affordable seafood like lobsters, prawns, squids, fish, and shells are available. Restaurants near the wet market offer cooking services for as low as Php100 for half-kilo per dish. It’s a bit steep if you’re alone, but reasonable if in groups.

Must Tries: Garlic Butter Shrimps, Stuffed Grilled Squid, Steamed Lobster/Prawns,Pan Fried or Grilled fish.

CYMA GREEK RESTAURANT

Offering the finest Greek cuisine on the island, CYMA Greek restaurant is famous for their roasted crab pasta. Other options include soups, salads, gyros, biftekia, souvlaki, and more CYMA specialties. Cheese and pastries are also hit with the flaming cheese Saganaki with mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano. The place easily gets crowded during lunch time as Koreans flock the restaurant for the garlic angel hair pasta with a humongous roasted crab on the plate.

Must Tries: Chicken Souvlaki, Roka Salata, Flaming Cheese Saganaki, and Roasted Crab Pasta.

WHERE TO EAT IN BORACAY: Station 1

BORACAY TOILET

Probably the quirkiest place to eat in Boracay Island having the concept of toilets on the entire ambiance, furnishings, and utensils being used. The ceiling was covered by some plastic riser tubes while chamber pots were used for the lighting fixtures. Meanwhile, tables and chairs were bathtubs and toilet bowls. Interestingly, your food will be served in plates resembling a bathroom sink, viands in replicas of toilet bowls, and drinks in urinals.

Must Tries: Pork SHITsig (Php240), Seafood TeriYUCKY (Php320), Margherita PEEza (Php195), Inihaw na LiemPOOP (Php320), SeaPOOP Platter (Php490), Fried Halo-HaLOO (Php175).

JONAH’S FRUIT SHAKE AND SNACK BAR

Jonah’s serve the most talked-about fruit shakes in Boracay Island. They have around 4 dozens of fresh fruit combinations and flavors from Php100 to Php190. Shakes are in disposable cups or bottles that you can easily bring while basking in the heat of the summer sun.

Must Tries: Banana Choco Peanut (Php120), Fresh Watermelon (without milk) (Php120), Strawberry Banana (Php180), Mocha Rum (Php120), Tropical Shake (Php110).

LA COZINA

La Cozina is the in-house restaurant of Zuzuni Boutique Hotel. Restaurant’s menu is not that varied which is actually good as you’ll know that the dishes are already perfected by the people behind the kitchen. They have salad, soup, tacos, pizza, fiesta rice, sandwiches, and main courses that include baby back ribs, chorizo Bolognese linguini, squid ink, and mixed paella.

Must Tries: Chicken Taco in Lime Sour Cream (Php240), Shrimp Pesto Pizzeta (Php390), Chorizo Bolognese Linguini (Php250), and Mixed Paella (chorizo, chicken, shrimp, and pork) (Php460).

barLO RESTO LOUNGE

Restaurants in Boracay indeed have their own specialty that makes all their customers go back. For pizza, one of the most famous is the Four Cheese Pizza from barLO Resto Lounge, the beach restaurant of Two Seasons Boracay. If you need some filling snack while walking along Station 1, you should drop by the place to avail eclectic and flavorful dishes.

Must Tries: Four Cheese Pizza (Php550), and Shrimp Pizza (Php550).

WHERE TO EAT IN BORACAY: Diniwid Beach / Bulabog Area

LOS INDIOS BRAVOS BORACAY, Road 1-A

For some nights in Boracay when you probably need to chill away from the crowded beaches, Los Indios Bravos will be your hideaway. They have a wide range of offerings from appetizers, pub pies, ribs and steaks, to seafood platters. Aside from that, don’t forget to try at least one of their craft beers that changes regularly.

MAMA’S FISH HOUSE, Microtel Boracay, Diniwid Beach

Within Microtel Boracay’s compound, the place is a great spot for happy hour while waiting for sundown. After sundown, Mama’s Fish House can be your haven for some good food like fresh salads, savory entrees, creamy pasta, and yummy sandwiches.

SPIDERHOUSE, Diniwid Beach

If you’re so sick with the flock of people in White Beach blocking your view of the sunset while having your cold beer or sweet cocktails, Spiderhouse in the far end of Diniwid Beach might be an answer to this issue. The bar and restaurant have a bamboo lounge area on the side of a mountain and above the clear waters of the island. While enjoying good food and beverages, you can also dive straight into the sea from their view deck.

Must Tries: Margherita Pizza, Cheesecake Taste Like Heaven, Fresh Coconut Juice, Ohh Blue Boracay, Carbonara Pasta, Choco Banana Shake.

RUF RESTO BAR, Ferra Hotel, Sitio Bulabog, Balabag

The comfy couches and the open-air ambience of the Ruf Resto Bar will be your hideout as you sample fusion dishes during happy hour while waiting for majestic sunsets of Boracay. Menu is simple yet varied from appetizers, soup bowls, meat samplers, sizzling plates, main courses, pasta, and desserts. For happy hour, they also offer bar chows and alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Must Tries: Fisherman’s Catch Fish and Chips (Php350), The Best Wings of My Life (Php550), Grilled Back Ribs (Php395), and Sate Sampler (Php385)and Fidel Castro, Shirley Temple, and Virgin Mojito for cocktails.
